ERBIL () - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Swiss Ambassador to Iraq Peter Nelson on Sunday, in a meeting focused on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and the latest developments in Iraq and the wider region.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments and the overall situation in Iraq and the region, as well as bilateral relations.
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Nelson on beginning his tenure as Switzerland’s ambassador and wished him success in his new duties. He also reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s willingness and support for strengthening relations with Switzerland.
Nelson expressed his country’s readiness to strengthen relations with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the economic sector and through increased trade exchanges.
The meeting highlighted the potential for closer economic and commercial ties between the Kurdistan Region and Switzerland as both sides discussed ways to further develop their bilateral relationship.
