ERBIL () — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Chinese Consul General Liu Jun on Monday as he concluded his diplomatic mission in the Kurdistan Region, with the Chinese diplomat describing the region as his “second home” and highlighted efforts to strengthen ties between Erbil and Beijing, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
Liu thanked the people of the Kurdistan Region for their hospitality and friendship, saying his experience in the region would remain unforgettable and that Kurdistan had become his “second home.”
During the meeting, the Chinese consul general highlighted several activities and programs carried out during his tenure, including efforts to strengthen relations between Chinese and Kurdistan Region universities, promote Chinese automotive companies, and advance plans for the construction of a new Chinese consulate building in Erbil.
For his part, Prime Minister Barzani stressed the importance of further developing relations and cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and China.
Barzani thanked Liu for his efforts during his tenure and wished him success in his future endeavors.
