ERBIL () — The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Electricity said Wednesday that Dana Gas has reduced the volume of natural gas supplied to power generation plants, resulting in a 1,000-megawatt drop in electricity production across the Kurdistan Region.

In a statement, the ministry warned electricity consumers of the reduction, saying the decrease in gas supplies had directly affected the operation of power-generating plants.

The Ministry of Electricity and the Ministry of Natural Resources said they are in communication with Dana Gas to address the issue and restore the normal flow of natural gas to the power plants.

The ministries did not provide further details on the reason for the reduction in gas supplies or specify how long the disruption is expected to last.

Dana Gas operates the Khor Mor gas field in the Kurdistan Region, which supplies natural gas to power plants and plays a key role in the region’s electricity generation.
