ERBIL () - Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense has formally announced the start of the implementation phase of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement with Türkiye and Pakistan, following a high-level military summit in Riyadh aimed at turning the agreement’s provisions into practical measures and effective military coordination.
On Friday, a high-level military meeting was held in the Saudi capital between the commanders of the defense forces and chiefs of staff of the three countries that are members of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Defense said practical steps to implement the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement had begun.
According to the statement, the meeting underscored the shared will and commitment of the three countries to immediately begin translating their obligations under the agreement into effective military coordination.
The participants also reaffirmed their commitment to the principle of “collective defense,” expressing the three countries’ determination to defend Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
During the meeting, the chiefs of staff conducted a detailed review of the security situation and the threats facing Saudi Arabia.
They also strongly condemned attacks previously carried out against the holy city of Mecca and against the country’s civilian and economic infrastructure.
The military delegations also discussed the next steps for further strengthening coordination among the armed forces of the three countries.
The discussions focused particularly on expanding intelligence cooperation, military coordination and complementing defense capabilities, with the aim of strengthening response capabilities and reinforcing collective defense.
