ERBIL () — Iranian Revolutionary Guards spokesperson Hossein Mohebi said on Tuesday that the United States had attempted to establish contact with the Guards, but Tehran rejected the effort, stressing that diplomacy remains the responsibility of Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
“The Americans have tried to contact us but we refuse any such contact,” Mohebi said in an interview with AFP. “Our dealings with the enemy — as long as they remain hostile — are conducted solely through arms.”
Mohebi also said Iran had toughened its conditions for ending the war with the United States following the collapse of a June agreement intended to end hostilities.
“They broke the agreement and committed another vicious act. We have therefore toughened our conditions,” he said, warning that continued US actions would “only make things difficult for themselves.”
He added that Washington had “no choice” but to accept Iran’s conditions.
Mohebi further warned that Iran would “undoubtedly intensify” its response if the United States launched new attacks against the Islamic Republic.
“If they act recklessly and history repeats itself, our resistance will undoubtedly intensify, bolstered by the experience we have gained,” he said. “This time, we will not merely retaliate; we will adopt an offensive posture, and America will come to regret its actions, suffering greater humiliation than ever before.”
The statements by IRGC spokesperson come amid the ongoing 2026 Iran War, a major military conflict between the United States (alongside Israel) and Iran that erupted on February 28.
