ERBIL () - The Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Peshmerga announced on Friday that the traditional method of distributing Peshmerga salaries through bank branches has come to an end, with more than 99 percent of Peshmerga force members now registered in the My Account project and set to receive their salaries directly through ATMs going forward.

Tuana Sadiq, Director General of Budget and Programs at the Ministry of Peshmerga, known as Military Accounting, told a Ministry of Peshmerga announcement that Peshmerga salaries have been distributed through Kurdistan Region banks during the past period, praising the system as having made salary access significantly easier compared to previous traditional methods.

Sadiq thanked the management and all staff of Kurdistan Region banks for their continued cooperation and coordination, noting that their role in managing and implementing the process went beyond their official duties, with bank employees also carrying out this responsibility during their own leave time in service of the Peshmerga forces.

She confirmed that more than 99 percent of Kurdistan Peshmerga force members are now registered in the My Account process, and that they will now access their salaries directly and easily through ATMs. She also praised the role of the My Account team staff for their work at the forefront of the Ministry of Peshmerga's digital transformation effort.

Sadiq concluded by emphasizing that due to this development and the continuation of the salary digitization process through My Account, the traditional method of distributing Peshmerga salaries through bank branches will come to an end going forward.

The announcement represents a significant milestone in the Kurdistan Region Government's broader digital financial transformation agenda. The My Account project, which has been rolling out across the Region's public sector workforce, previously recorded more than 2 million digital payment transactions and saw more than 55,000 social welfare beneficiaries complete registration. The Peshmerga Ministry's completion of 99 percent registration across its forces, and the formal end of the traditional bank distribution method, marks the most complete single-sector digital salary migration the Region has achieved.
