ERBIL () — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday received Thailand’s Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq Jirapon Jirampaikool to discuss strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Thailand.
According to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government, the meeting highlighted the importance of further strengthening and expanding ties, particularly in the fields of trade and hospitality.
Prime Minister Barzani and Jirampaikool also exchanged views on the situation of Thai citizens residing in the Kurdistan Region.
The Kurdistan Region has sought to expand its economic and diplomatic ties with Asian countries, with trade, investment, tourism, and hospitality among the areas highlighted in its efforts to diversify international partnerships. Thailand maintains diplomatic representation covering both Iraq and Jordan, providing a channel for engagement with the Kurdistan Region as well as the Iraqi federal government.
