ERBIL () - Amedspor president Nahît Eren has vowed to protect the Kurdish club’s historic rise in Turkish football, saying the team represents the hopes of millions and that no one will be allowed to undermine its success.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Eren described Amedspor as a major and influential club and said its rapid rise had established it among Turkey’s top-flight teams.
“Amedspor is a great and influential club. Amedspor has managed, in a short period, through its ability and strength, to establish itself in the Super Lig,” Eren said.
He added that the club would do everything within its power to strengthen and protect its position.
“We will do everything we can to strengthen and protect this position. We will not allow anyone or any side to create an agenda for Amedspor that is outside football and success,” Eren said.
Eren placed particular emphasis on the support surrounding the club, saying Amedspor’s significance extends far beyond the football pitch.
“Amedspor is a club of millions of people, the hope of millions of people,” he said. “People want to be happy through Amedspor’s successes. Therefore, we will not allow any side to undermine this feeling.”
Eren acknowledged that the club still has shortcomings but said its overall direction remained positive.
“Of course, we still have shortcomings, but we are moving forward on the right path,” he said.
Eren’s remarks came after Amedspor secured a historic victory the previous night, defeating Beşiktaş 3-2 at home in the sixth week of the Turkish Super Lig.
The victory sent Amedspor to the top of the league standings, marking another major step in the club’s rapid ascent.
The rise of the Diyarbakır-based club has drawn wider attention, with the team’s journey from the third tier to the top of the Turkish league highlighted as a remarkable transformation.
